The Sunpentown SD-652TI has been designed specifically for use in a small bedroom, closets, cabinets and any other enclosed spaces that have a problem with humidity. Sunpentown (sometimes known as SPT) has put a lot of thought into the design behind this model. It’s finished in an attractive silver color, and is compact enough not to be intrusive in any room.
One of the best features about this model is the use of TiO2 technology. This mini dehumidifier is fitted with an anti-bacterial mesh filter (TiO2) that targets and kills various germs and bacteria that can cause a number of breathing problems. In addition, the user also benefits from a UV light that works in the same way.
Perfect for the bedroom, the Sunpentown mini dehumidifier uses thermo-electric technology to allow for super quiet operation. Due to this technology, the unit doesn’t require a refrigerant either, which also adds to less noise when in use.
Conveniently, Sunpentown has include a continuous drainage feature as well as a full tank level indicator which lights up and automatically shuts the dehumidifier down when it’s full.
What We Liked
- Low Noise Levels
This mini dehumidifier does not need a compressor or refrigerant and uses thermo-electric technology instead. This makes for super quiet operation without any vibration making it perfect for the bedroom.
- Cleaner Air
Using both a TiO2 anti-bacterial mesh filter and UV light, this unit will target and kill various germs in the air that can cause breathing problems.
- Versatile Drainage
The user can opt from either continuous drainage or the tank which comes with a full level indicator light. The unit will also automatically shut-down until it has been emptied.
Just 13 inches high and 8 inches wide this Sunpentown mini dehumidifier is perfect for closets, cabinets, underneath sinks, nurseries or any other enclosed spaces that suffer with humidity.
What We Didn't Like
- Effective Dehumidification
Many have complained the amount of water this unit collects doesn’t prove its effectiveness in removing moisture from the air. However, it has been revered for the reduction in allergy symptoms.
It would appear that this unit is not very robust. If used 24/7 it tends to last less than a few months.
Sunpentown has placed a lot of emphasis on the look of this unit and using technology that won’t disturb people whilst it’s in operation. Due to the lack of a refrigerant and compressor, this appears to have worked. The use of TiO2 and UV technology has also proved very effective at helping allergy symptoms. However, its effectiveness at removing moisture from air leaves something to be desired.Review by AirReflect ©
