The AFS60RX air conditioner from Sharp Electronics is perfect for small rooms up to 245 square feet, and has a cooling capacity of 6,000 BTU. It’s sleek in design with an easy to use control panel and remote control. Designed to fit into a window, this model will not take up valuable space in a room that already has little to spare.
Sharp Electronics have thought about ease of use as well as creating a comfortable environment during hot summer months. The AFS60RX has 3 fan speeds along with 3 cooling speeds and the easy to use soft touch control panel will allow the user to adjust the desired temperature in just one degree increments.
Included with this model is a remote control which will adjust fan speeds, desired temperature, turn the unit on/off and set the 24 hour timer.
Energy Star Rated, this unit will not cost an inordinate amount of money to run, and it has also been fitted with an energy saving mode for further savings. Sharp have also cleverly designed this A/C so both the fan and compressor switch off when the desired temperature has been reached.
What We Liked
- 4-Way Air Direction
Unlike many other air conditioners of this size, the AFS60RX has a 4-way air direction so the cool air is evenly distributed, eliminating the problem of hot-spots.
- Auto Cool Mode
When you make use of the auto cool mode, the unit will automatically adjust the fan speeds according to the desired temperature.
- Energy Star Rated
With the highly acclaimed energy star rating, the AFS60RX will not break the bank in terms of energy use; it will also switch both the compressor and fans off when they’re not required.
- Soft Touch Controls
With Sharp’s soft-touch control panel, using this model couldn’t be easier. You benefit from 24 hour programmable timer and electronic thermostat.
- Remote Control
For further ease of use this unit has a multi-purpose remote control which will allow you to set the fan speeds, timer and adjust the temperature.
What We Didn't Like
Whilst the fans with this model emit little noise, there is an issue with drainage. It appears there is little or no design for water to be released from the unit, which is why people have complained about a rattling noise.
- Remote Control Design
Whilst design has been thought about with the AFS60RX, this seems to have been forgotten with the remote control, which does look a little dated.
Sharp Electronics have done a pretty good job with the AFS60RX, it will it cool a room adequately as long as it’s only between 145 and 250 square feet in size. The features included with the remote control are an added bonus and help towards making the unit very easy to use. However, the fact there is a problem with water drainage could be seen as a design flaw on the manufacturer’s part.Review by AirReflect ©
