Oreck AirInstinct 200

The Oreck AirInstinct HEPA large room air purifier is possibly the best model this manufacturer has brought to the market to date. It’s simplistic yet somehow discerning design is the least to be said about it. Unlike many other models, Oreck have managed to incorporate 5 different speeds that take the guesswork out of using this model. The unit uses PATH technology and it will automatically set to the purification level required in the room, thus eliminating the need for human intervention.

Review Details

The PATH technology used with the AirInstinct (which stands for Pre – Anti-odor – True – HEPA) is truly one of the most advanced on the market. It uses a 3 tier filtration system:

  1. A pre-filter that captures larger particles such as pet hair (this filter is washable and never needs replacing).
  2. A 3 year VOC (volatile organic compound) odor filter which stops paint smells, off-gases and aerosol vapors.
  3. A HEPA filter which captures 99.97% of particles up to 0.3 microns including pollen, allergens, smoke and dust.

With 4 different colors on the unique looking air speed indicator, you can quickly see what level it’s working at. The unit will adjust without any help from the user.

What We Liked

  • Highly Versatile
Includes 5 speeds with sleep, auto and power modes. You will have the benefit of a filter replacement indicator and mood light which will add to the ambience of any room.
  • Advanced Air Particle Sensor
With the AirInstinct, you never have to worry about the levels of pollutants in the air. Its advanced air control system will automatically react to the levels in the room it’s being used.
  • Energy Efficient
Energy Star Rated, the AirInstinct will save on utility bills. The automatic adjustable speeds will also help keep the bills down.
  • Extended Warranty
This model has been built to last, and the mere fact Oreck offer a 5 year warranty proves that. The filters are also guaranteed for 3 years.

What We Didn't Like

  • Anti-Bacterial Properties
While the Oreck AirInstinct is incredibly efficient at the job it’s meant to do, it is in no way equipped with germ removal technology. This is something that should be considered prior to purchase.
  • Odors
If you’re looking for an air purifier that will remove odors such as perfume, this model has not been designed for this. Rather, it focuses on removing more chemically bound emissions such as off-gases and aerosol vapors.

There is little to be said about the Oreck AirInsinct Large Room Air Purifier that’s negative. In fact, it could be seen that the cons listed above are a little like “clutching at straws”. It has been designed with aesthetics in mind and incorporates additional features that are not available with other models in this price range. This is an excellent buy and Oreck has paved the way for air purification technology which other manufacturers can only follow.
