LG has been responding to consumer demands for years with all types of home and commercial appliances, and they're pretty big in air conditioners. The LW8012ER window mounted air conditioner has not disappointed. With a cooling capacity of 8000 BTU, this unit will keep you cool in a room sized up to 350 square feet. As would be expected from LG design and additional features have not been forgotten either.
What strikes you first about the LW8012ER is the versatility it has to offer. You can make use of one of four operating modes the unit has to offer, 3 cooling speeds and a 24 hour programmable timer. The auto cool mode is also very useful, which keeps the guesswork out of keeping the room at the desired temperature.
LG has proved they are conscious of the carbon footprint by ensuring this model is energy star rated, and it also has an energy saving mode which stops both the compressor and fans. For further ease of use, the LW8012ER comes with a full function remote control and 4-way airflow direction. It has also been built to last; using the LG patented Gold Fin anti-corrosion coating.
What We Liked
- Advanced Versatility
There are four operating modes with the LW8012ER.
- Cool – the compressor works to cool the room quickly.
- Fan – can be used as a fan when air conditioning isn’t required.
- Energy Saver – both the fan and compressor will stop.
- Dry – will dehumidify the air when cooling isn’t needed.
- 24 Hour Timer
Have your LW8012ER work for you when you’re not there. It can be scheduled to turn on/off up to 24 hours in advance which helps towards convenience of use.
- Onboard or Remote Control
This A/C has an easy to use digital control panel which displays the current temperature setting, and fully functional remote control.
- Automatic Re-Start
If you lose power, once it has been restored your LW8012ER will cleverly re-start on the settings it previously had.
What We Didn't Like
- Window Size
LG have made this unit to fit windows of between 22 and 36 inches in width only.
Weighing in at 59lbs this unit can be difficult to lift, which can make installation somewhat of a chore.
As expected, there is little to say about the LG LW8012ER that’s negative. Indeed, the cons above could be considered as advice on what to think about prior to purchase. The manufacturer has managed to bring a mid-range capacity window air conditioner to the market that won’t cost an inordinate amount of money. It’s versatile, energy efficient and easy to use. In our opinion at a little over $200, this unit is an excellent buy.Review by AirReflect ©
