Considering the amount of water the Frigidaire FAD704DUD is capable of removing from a room, it’s no surprise to learn of the other benefits incorporated with the design. The most notable fact is it’s fitted with an antimicrobial mesh filter which helps remove harmful bacteria from the air, making for a healthier environment. Mold or mildew is something this unit has no trouble with.
You can expect a unit that will remove 70 pints of water per day, and this can be done in one of two ways. Either make use of the handy front loaded bucket (which is easy to remove and empty) or, where possible, hook it up to a hose for continuous drainage.
The FAD604DUD has 2 fan speeds and will operate at low temperatures. The higher setting is perfect for first time use, and will help with situations such as drying out a flood damaged area. The low setting is ideal for every-day use, and you can expect the unit to operate quite happily at temperatures as low as 41 degrees Fahrenheit.
What We Liked
- Practical Controls
When using the bucket, the Frigidaire FAD704DUD will automatically shut-off and alert you when it’s full. With touch type controls and an inbuilt humidistat operating this unit, keeping humidity at the desired level is a breeze.
- Fresh and Clean Air
The advanced antimicrobial filter included with the FAD704DUD has a mesh that will reduce the amount of bacteria that gets into the air. This reduces odors and allergy symptoms people/rooms can suffer from as a result. Take the guesswork out of knowing when to clean it with the illuminated ‘clean filter’ light.
- Versatile Moisture Removal
With two options for moisture removal, both via a bucket and continuous drainage, this dehumidifier couldn’t be more efficient.
- Industry Certified
Frigidaire can boast that the FAD704DUD is not only AHAM certified but is also Energy Star compliant.
What We Didn't Like
- No Auto Defrost
The FAD704DUD can operate at low temperatures but you may find it’s not as efficient because there is no automatic defrost included.
The position of hose outlet sometimes hinders effective drainage,. There are ways around the issue though, like tilting the unit.
Considering the price and versatility of the FAD704DUD, it’s very good value for money. It’s incredibly efficient at removing a high amount of moisture.
Fitted with digital controls and antimicrobial technology, it would be hard to find a 70 pint dehumidifier that works as well for the price. Danby do make a similar model but it will cost around $30 more and doesn’t have any notable additional features.
