The Frigidaire FAD504DUD 50 pint dehumidifier is very clean in design and valued for its effectiveness. It combines a practical look with low energy efficiency: Energy Star Rated, this model will not cost an inordinate amount of money to run. The manufacturer has also thought about ease of use with this model. It’s equipped with the ability for continuous drainage by simply connecting a garden hose, eliminating the need to empty heavy buckets of water.
The FAD504DUD will not only eliminate mold and mildew that can appear due to a damp environment, it is also equipped with a washable filter that’s designed to keep the air smelling fresh and clean.
Frigidaire understands that it’s not always possible to place a dehumidifier close to a drain. For this reason, they have included an easy to use bucket that comes complete with splash guard and carry handles. It’s also equipped with a floater type water full indicator and an alarm to alert you to this. Your unit will also automatically shut-off when it’s full.
What We Liked
- Easy to Use Controls
Located at the top of the unit, the easy to read digital controls will give you the current humidity readout, tell you when the bucket is full (when in use), and it will automatically shut-off when it’s full.
- Effortless Continuous Drainage
The unit has been cleverly designed so it can be placed near a drain and connected to any standard gardening hose. Once connected, simply set the desired humidity level and let your dehumidifier do all the hard work for you.
- High Level Dehumidification
Capable of removing 50 pints of water per day, the FAD504DUD is perfect for very damp environments. Due to the filtration system, it will stop the growth of mold and mildew which can affect the quality of indoor air.
- Energy Efficient
The FAD504DUD is Energy Star Rated which means it’s been endorsed for its energy efficiency.
What We Didn't Like
- Drainage Issue
There have been complaints that this unit does not drain correctly. However, Frigidaire have addressed this issue, and will provide an additional kit should it be required.
- Bucket Size
If you’re going to use this model in a particularly damp area the bucket does only hold just over 16 pints. This could mean it will need emptying 2 -3 times per day. In this case, consider using the drainage option.
Overall, the FAD504DUD does a very good job. It’s well priced given it has two options for removing moisture. Not many other manufacturers have this built into their models in this price range. It has been designed with ease of use in mind, and looks clean. It’s also very versatile in that it can be used in any room in the home. Considering its energy efficiency and inbuilt filtration system, it’s a very good buy.Review by AirReflect ©
