The Friedrich P09B air conditioning unit has a capacity of 9000 BTU which should be enough for rooms of approximately 400 square feet in size. It is simple in design, which means it will happily blend into the background of any indoor décor. Friedrich has also thought about ease of use, and this model comes with many additional features to ensure that keeping a comfortable temperature in the home or office is a breeze.
One of the most discerning features about the Friedrich ZoneAire P09B is the optional dual exhaust system. By using this loop cooling type system, a room can be brought down to the desired temperature up to 40% quicker than single hose systems which help to save on energy. The PB09 is actually a 3 in 1 unit. It cools, dehumidifies and acts as a fan.
Friedrich has also gone one step further with the condensate system. In relative humidity all the condensate is expelled through the exhaust hose. In higher humidity, the unit also has a back-up reservoir. If this becomes full, the unit will light up on the control panel and it will shutdown, eliminating unwanted overflow.
What We Liked
- Cool Air on Tap
Fitted with a 24 hour programmable timer, the PB09 can be set to power up when you’re not at home. This means you will benefit from a cool environment the minute you walk through the door.
- Fast/Efficient Cooling
The Friedrich ZoneAire air conditioner is fitted with a double exhaust system. This means it will cool a room up to 40% quicker than other brands in this range.
- Overflow Protection
If the humidity is particularly high, this model has a back-up reservoir to deal with the additional condensate. Should the reservoir become full, the unit will light up and it will automatically power off until it’s emptied.
- Exceptionally Portable
The PB09 is incredibly easy to move from room to room. Fitted with durable casters and easy to use side handles, you get cool air where you need it most.
What We Didn't Like
- Flimsy Design
A lot of the parts on the PB09 are made of plastic which the manufacturer has probably done to save passing the cost on to the consumer. However, it does bring into question how durable this model is.
- Window Vs Portable
For those that are used to window air conditioning units, you will find this model is far louder. However, it does look more attractive from the outside of the home.
Friedrich has done a decent job bringing an air conditioner to the market that really does work as a 3 in 1 unit, meaning that if you need it to just dehumidify or work as a fan, it will. It is reasonably priced but if you are used to window units, you may not find this model as efficient. However, if you’re looking for a truly portable unit that cools the air efficiently, the DB09 is certainly worth consideration.Review by AirReflect ©
