DeLonghi PACA120E

Portable air conditioners are becoming ever more popular and DeLonghi has responded to customer demand with the PACA120E 12,000 BTU portable air conditioner. It’s not only stylish which is to be expected from this manufacturer, it’s also perfect for spaces where window air conditioners are not an option. Because it’s portable it can easily be moved from room to room and won’t block out much needed light. This model is packed with additional features including “no drip” technology.

Review Details

One of the biggest issues many people have with air conditioners like this is the need to constantly empty a condensate bucket. The PACA120E uses a unique “no drip” system, which means that any condensate that it produces is automatically recycled by the unit, meaning no more messy buckets to empty.

This model will keep a room of 400 square feet as cool as a cucumber, making it perfect for any room in the home. Due to the advanced technology used with the compressor and other components, this unit is perfect for use in the bedroom. It also features a sleep mode which gradually reduces operation so as not to disturb sleep but keep you comfortable at the same time.

What We Liked

  • Constant Cool and Comfortable Air
The DeLonghi PACA120E is fitted with both a thermostat and 24 hour timer, which means that you can really set it and forget it. Once the desired temperature has been reached, the unit will automatically adjust the fan settings.
  • Full Functional Remote Control
The remote control included with the PACA120E will work up to 23 feet away from the air conditioner. From here, you can use all of the functions including setting the fan speed, timer and change modes.
  • 3 in 1 Unit
DeLonghi has actually produced a unit that does 3 jobs. It will cool, dry the air and when air-con is not required, it will work as fan only.
  • Energy Efficient
Due to various features such as the sleep mode, adjustable thermostat and advanced compressor, the PACA120E doesn’t cost a lot of money to run.

What We Didn't Like

  • Drainage
DeLonghi does advertise a “no drip” system with this unit, but if condensate is high in your area you will have to empty a hard to reach tank from time to time. This is often overlooked by many users which can result in leaks.
  • Cooling Efficiency
For consumers who are moving from a window to a portable air conditioner, you may find it will take longer to cool the air simply because of the difference in technology.

DeLonghi has produced what is largely a very efficient portable air conditioner. The PACA120E has many features other 12000 BTU units don’t offer. It’s stylish, won’t take up valuable light (as with window air conditioners) and, its easily moved from room to room due to the side carry handles and durable castors. However, there does appear to be an issue with leakage. This unit will require you to empty a small tank, and regular maintenance is a must.
