DeLonghi has long been known for their quality electrical goods and they pay close attention to the technology and design of everything they produce. This is no different with the DD50P 50 pint dehumidifier. It has many inbuilt features that are there to make life easier for you. It also has a practical yet somewhat aesthetic design in a neutral color that won’t look out of place in the home.
One of the best features about the DD50P is the way it collects water. There are three options. Firstly, there is a tank so water can be removed manually; secondly it has been fitted with a patented pump which will vertically remove the water through a 16 foot hose. Lastly, water can be passively removed by making use of an included hose. The two last options are perfect for continuous use.
The electronic controls are conveniently situated at the top of the unit and it’s possible to set the ideal level of humidity using the humidistat. You can also monitor the relative room temperature in the same way. With a 24 hour timer, it’s easy to set the DD50P, switch it on and let it do the hard work for you.
What We Liked

- Electronic Controls with LCD Display
Simply set the level of humidity desired and the unit will adjust using the inbuilt humidistat. You can also make use of the 24 hour timer.
- Eco-Friendly and Energy Efficient
Fitted with an R-410A refrigerant you can be safe in the knowledge the DD50P will not deplete the ozone. It’s also Energy Star Rated which will mean low cost utility bills.
- Low Temperature Operation
This model will work well in temperatures as low as 41 degrees Fahrenheit and is fitted with a de-frost system, making it perfect for cold areas such as basements.
What We Didn't Like
- Ease of Use
Due to the features included with this model, there have been complaints that operating it for the first time isn’t easy. However, DeLonghi have made sure their manual is informative and just needs to be read in detail.
- Continuous Fan
The fan will continue working when the compressor has switched off, which has raised doubts about energy consumption. That said, the wattage does reduce dramatically when fan alone is running.
Overall the DeLonghi DD50P is rated very highly. The manufacturer has paid particular attention to the many features, with a focus on various options of water removal. Some consumers have even decided to use the model in a crawl space as oppose to a basement with great success. Considering the price range and the capacity this model is capable of, its well worth the investment.Review by AirReflect ©
