The Danby DDR30E is a 30 pint dehumidifier which has been designed to work in average sized rooms, making sure that objects such as walls and furniture are protected from mold and mildew. At the same time a drier atmosphere can help with certain respiratory problems such as asthma, which is where the strengths lie with the DDR30E.
This dehumidifier will quietly and effectively remove up to 30 pints of water out of the air every 24 hours. There are two drainage options with the DDR30E, this can be done either by removing a tank or by continuous drainage. The tank comes with a full-indicator which can easily be seen from the front, and the continuous drainage option is perfect for especially damp places such as a basement or garage.
This compact model will operate in temperatures as low as 41 degrees Fahrenheit and has an auto de-icer to stop unwanted frost from building up on the condenser coils. In addition the user benefits from a soft touch control panel where the desired level of humidity can be set (between 30 and 90%).
What We Liked
- User Friendly
The DDR30E has an easy to read LCD control panel. From here, the desired humidity level can be set using soft-touch buttons. Once set, the precise readings will be digitally displayed on the panel.
- No Guesswork
Once the desired level of humidity has been reached, the unit will turn the compressor off and this will automatically cycle on/off to maintain the correct levels.
- Environmentally Friendly
Energy star rated, the DDR30E is environmentally friendly and will not break the bank in terms of energy usage. The R-410A refrigerant does not produce any ozone, thus protecting the environment.
- Re-Usable Air Filter
Danby has cleverly used an air filter with this unit which removes various allergy irritating particles from the air. Easy to maintain, it can be washed or vacuumed.
Weighing just 33lbs, this unit can be moved effortlessly using the easy roll casters.
What We Didn't Like
- Continuous Fan
Although the compressor will turn off once the desired level of humidity has been reached, the fan will not. This has raised some concerns over energy consumption.
There are 2 speeds to choose from on the DDR30E, and many have reported that even on the lowest speed it emits too much noise.
Overall the Danby DDR30E is a very efficient and attractive looking dehumidifier. There are few, if any, issues with its effectiveness at keeping the air in a room dry and clean. It has also been rated well above average for its ability to keep mold and mildew at bay. For some there is a noise issue though. If this is a concern you may want to consider the Frigidaire FAD504DUD which is larger and more expensive but low on noise.Review by AirReflect ©
