Danby is one of the largest manufacturers of electrical home appliances in North America. Their 5200 BTU compact window air conditioner has been brought to the market in order to cool small rooms that are no larger than 175 square feet. It lives up to the ‘compact’ name but doesn’t let you down on its ability to cool. It’s a lightweight unit that’s not difficult to install and comes with many features larger models have.

  • Effortless Temperature Control
With mechanical controls, you can set your desired temperature anywhere between 62 and 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

What We Didn't Like

  • Condensation
It has been noted that this model can produce a good deal of condensation. However, Danby has attempted to combat this by adding a soft protective layer underneath.
  • Sound of Water
When the unit is switched on the sound of running water can be heard but, some consumers have found this to be relaxing and it in no way means there is a fault with the machine.

Conclusion

The compact Danby DAC5200DB window air conditioner is perfect for people that live in high rise buildings and will keep the air more comfortable during the summer months. It has a number of features not many models of this size have, but it’s not the cheapest on the market. If price is an issue, you may wish to consider the Frigidaire FRA052XT7 which will cool a room up to 150 square feet in size.
