Blueair 503

The Blueair 503 HepaSilent air purification system is possibly the best model on the market for helping people who suffer from respiratory and allergy issues. It is highly effective at removing pollen, dust and tobacco smoke from the air. The three stage filtration system, sleek look and quiet operation have made this one of the most popular air purifiers on the market today.

Review Details

The Blueair 503 will purify the air five times an hour in a room sized up to 580 square feet. Unique to the manufacturer they use HepaSilent technology in their filtration systems which are done in three stages. Using a combination of electrostatic and mechanical processes, the 503 will trap 99.97% of microns. In addition the user can also opt for the SmokeStop filter kit.

The particle filter kit is made up of a small amount of activated carbon and polypropylene, and is perfect for people that suffer from allergies. It will remove pet dander, dust, pollen, bacteria, mold spores and other harmful particles.
SurroundAir technology is also used by Blueair, a system that’s six times more powerful than other models in this bracket.

What We Liked

  • Quiet Operation
The Blueair 503 uses some of the most advanced Swedish technology on the market. Made of materials like galvanized noise muffling steel, this unit (on its lowest setting) will not emit more sound than the average laptop. The HepaSilent filter technology allows the air to move freely, further adding to quiet operation.
  • Versatility
There is a choice of 4 speeds, the unit is equipped with easy to use control knobs and the filters are very simple to replace.
  • Perfect for Allergies
The 503 will remove many common household allergens as small as 0.1 microns, and it will effectively do this on the lowest speed.
  • Environmentally Friendly
This model is energy star rated which saves on electricity. The unit will not emit any ozone which helps the environment, and the manufacturer has used parts that help to protect the planet.

What We Didn't Like

  • Additional Features
There are not many “bells and whistles” with the Blueair 503 because more emphasis has been placed on its ability to purify the air around you.
  • Replacement Filters
The replacement filters for this unit can be on the pricey side and the SmokeStop smoker kit is not included with this model, you would have to pay extra.

The Blueair 503 is sturdy in construction, easy to maintain and best of all is highly effective at helping people who suffer from allergy and other respiratory problems. The manufacturer has not included lots of additional features but instead has placed an emphasis on high-end air purification.
The Blueair 503 has a 5 star rating on many other online retail stores, there are not many other models in this bracket that can boast the success rate of the 503.
