Blueair 203

The 203W Air Purifier from the Blueair 200 series has been designed with style in mind. However most importantly, the model focuses on keeping the air indoors pure enough to prevent asthma and allergy symptoms from appearing. The 203W will purify the air in rooms up to 240 sq ft in size, and it proves to be very effective for smoke as well. It is certified by AHAM, which further adds to peace of mind for consumers.

Review Details

Noise is something that many complain about with air purifiers, especially with those that have been designed for use in the bedroom. Blueair have addressed this issue by incorporating their patented HEPAsilent filtration technology. Rather than use electrostatic and mechanical technology alone, they have cleverly equipped the 203 models with a filter media which is combined with an ion particle chamber. This means clean air is provided at a quick rate with the minimal amount of noise.

Aside for the advanced air filtration system which will successfully remove particles such as dander, pollen and other allergy promoting substances, it’s incredibly easy to use and aesthetic in appearance.

What We Liked

  • Advanced HEPAsilent Technology
The Blueair 203 will remove all types of allergy promoting substances as small as 0.1 microns. Its patented filtration system works in various stages so it will even trap larger airborne particles such as dust.
  • Whisper Quiet Operation
The 203W is so quiet it’s barely audible. In fact, for some consumers, the only way to tell its working is by the illuminated blue light located at the front.
  • Energy Efficient/Eco Friendly
Energy Star Rated, the 203W is not expensive to run. The advanced filtration system uses innovative plastic which only produces water and carbon dioxide as it decomposes. This means it produces zero ozone. During testing by the EPA it was actually found this unit reduces ozone!
  • Award Winning Design
Blueair have won the prestigious Excellent Swedish Design award. It’s sleek, stylish and built to fit into any type of décor.

What We Didn't Like

  • Lack of Pre-Filter
Due to the lack of a pre-filter, the unit can suffer from a build-up of dust and dirt fairly quickly. However, this only appears to be a problem in households that suffer from pet hair or lots of dust.
  • Replacement Filters
The replacement filters can be expensive, but they should only need replacing once every 6 months

It has been noted that the Blueair 203W is expensive compared to other brands. But, considering the effort that has gone into the advance filtration system to help with purifying the air for both allergy and asthma sufferers, it’s a very good investment. Add to this how quiet the unit is, the certifications the model has, and the prestigious award Blueair can boast for design, this air purifier has been well received into the market place.
