Air King BFQ 90
The Air King BFQ 90 is perfect for consumers that want a bathroom fan that’s easy to install. There is no need to call in a professional to do this, due to the unique ‘snap-in’ design this fan has. It’s been developed to cover a bathroom up to 110 square feet. It can also be used in other areas of the home (apart from the kitchen) that are up to 115 square feet in size.
The ‘snap-in’ design of the BFQ 90 is unique to Air King and all that’s required is for the bracket to either be screwed or nailed into the joist. Once this has been done, the fan can be snapped into place and wired into the duct. All that’s left after this is for the grill to be put in place. This job takes minutes!
This bathroom fan is also unique in that (unlike many other fans of this sort) the housing is constructed completely of plastic. This means no rusting which can cause a fan to become louder when in operation, and in some instances breakdown. This makes the BFQ 90 longer lasting and perfect for high salt water/humid areas.
What We Liked
- Easy Installation
The BFQ 90 takes minutes to install with the unique ‘snap-in’ type design. There are no complicated brackets or wiring to do.
- UL Listed
This fan can be installed directly above a bath or shower as long as it’s on a GFCI circuit.
- Long Lasting
Air King has cleverly constructed the housing on the BFQ 90 completely of plastic. This means that unlike many other models, it will not rust or cause noise due to problems with wear and tear on metal.
- Quiet Operation
This unit has a 2.5 sone, 90 CFM blower and a 4 inch plastic duct collar. All of these features make the BFQ 90 one of the quietest on the market, and the collar will prevent any back-drafts.
- Suitable for Continuous Use
Fitted with thermally protected, heavy duty plug-in and 4 pole motor, continuous use is not an issue.
What We Didn't Like
- Slight Design Flaw
Due to the separate grill that needs to be attached to the fan, some have noted this can be a bit flimsy. However if the unit were whole, maintenance would be more difficult.
- As a Replacement
Ease of installation is still possible if replacing the BFQ 90 with a previous fan. However, the size of the current hole should be taken into consideration.
The Air King BFQ 90 bathroom fan is no way meant for large rooms. In fact, it does better in pretty small rooms that have little or no ventilation, which is something you should think about before purchasing. The manufacturer has thought about the construction in terms of longevity and ease of installation, and the fan reaches the required ASHRAE national standard. At a price of around $40, this is a great buy.Review by AirReflect ©
